I remember the first time I tried real US-style homemade lemonade. I was 23, not that long ago at all, but it tastes amazing, is very easy to make, and is 100% vegan!
This naturally vegan-friendly lemonade recipe only needs 3 ingredients and can be whipped up in a matter of minutes.
What do you need to make lemonade at home?
All you need is home lemons, sugar, and water. It’s literally that simple.
With such a complex flavour, you’re bound to impress any guests with it, and trick ‘em into thinking it’s store bought (except it’s better).
Is homemade lemonade healthy?
Our lemonade recipe incorporates very simple ingredients, being made up of fresh lemons, cane sugar and spring water.
One could argue the vitamin C content from the lemons and its immune boosting capabilities could make for a healthier option to regular fizzy lemonade.
Someone else could also argue that the sugar in the lemonade, regardless of it being homemade, is still sugar, nonetheless.
Either way, homemade lemonade, in general, is in fact healthier than the typical lemon fizz you find in stores – Just make sure you enjoy it in moderation.
Is lemonade vegan?
Considering you only need lemons and water, homemade lemonade (even most storebought varieties) are naturally vegan, and suitable for those following a plant-based diet.
What does lemonade pair well with?
Homemade lemonade is the perfect summer drink recipe, pairs well with fresh fruits, salads, and hot weather.
Lemonade also pairs well with spicy food, to bring a nice refreshing taste to balance everything out.
Does lemonade dehydrate you?
Regular fizzy (soda) lemonade, with its acidic nature and excessive sugar content, could actually work to dehydrate you, not to mention they don’t really contain much lemon.
Homemade lemonade however, rich in potassium as well as vitamin C and other nutrients, actually works to hydrate you by replenishing your electrolytes, as well as the water working to hydrate you as water usually does.
Homemade lemonade is really hydrating, especially topped with ice, and a nice large glass of it on a summer’s day, try it and see if you can tell me otherwise.
